Nevada Programs

Centrally located in Reno, Nevada, since March, 2002, Hand Up Homes for Youth is a 12-bed program designed for males ages 12 to 18. This residential setting provides intensive clinical, day treatment/education, and experiential services for youth and their families. With our small size and family-style setting, we are able to offer individualized treatment to clients with a wide variety of needs, including developmental delays, SED (severe emotional disturbance), behavioral management issues and dual diagnoses. Youth who do not require commitment to a psychiatric hospital, but are not yet prepared to safely reintegrate into the community, can be effectively served at a level of care representing the midpoint between RTC and step-down programming. Hand Up Homes for Youth, Northern Nevada offers staff-secure, twenty-four hour line-of-sight supervision in the context of a small, community-based milieu. Our extremely high caretaker-to-client ratio and on-site clinical staff provide the adolescents we serve with intensive, individualized therapeutic programming, case management, and care coordination. Our on-site school program, provided through a partnership with the Washoe County School District, allows our clients to complete their educational objectives in a nurturing, client-centered and developmentally appropriate environment without compromising community safety. Our small classroom size enables clients to experience success in school, many for the first time. We have found that many clients who previously struggled in larger placements are able to succeed in our model.
